LIP flip
A short-term alternative to lip filler.
ABOUT Lip Flips
Usually when people talk about getting their “lips done,” they are referring to having lip filler.
The lip flip is a short-term alternative that works for some people to help relax the muscles of the mouth around the lip, allowing it to appear a bit fuller without a drastic change.
It can also help prevent or relax wrinkle lines known as “smoker’s” or “barcode” lines around the mouth.
Additionally, it can relax curling of the upper lip that occurs when smiling.
wHAT IT IS
Your injector will determine if you are a candidate for a lip flip. Generally they are suitable for people who want a slight fuller appearance, but don’t want to try fillers yet.
Small amounts of a neurotoxin are injected in specific areas around the lip. This causes the muscle to relax and give the lip a flipped out appearance
HOW IT WORKS
Small markings will be made in appropriate areas on your upper and/or lower lip.
Small amounts of neurotoxin will be injected into each area.
Results can start to show in a few days and usually have reached maximum effect by two weeks.

This does not really treat a “gummy smile”, which is where the gum is more exposed during a persons smile and is a different procedure with different injection points.
Someone with very thin lips would not likely benefit from this procedure.
Keep in mind that sometimes the relaxing of the muscle can lead to issues with drinking through a straw, closing mouth completely, and sucking….things :) This is temporary and will imprve with time. Using the area frequently or using the back of a vibrating toothbrush on the area can help regain function quicker, but often just a little time fixes things!

This is definitely one of the more “pinchy” injections, especially on the top lip for most people. It is very quick and is not bad.

Results can usually start to appear in just a few days depending on the neurotoxin used.
Everyone is different, but they generally last up to 3 months.
Because this is a much more mobile part of the body, the toxin may not be effective for as long.
Sometimes the first treatment may not last as long.
Taking zinc in the days before treatment can help the treatment last longer.
